Are you hitting the road on a long-distance journey? Chances are you may need to stop at a truck stop, especially if you’re a professional truck driver, or even if you’re hauling a larger load like a boat or a recreational vehicle. When utilizing these truck-stop facilities, it’s important to remember that it’s a shared space and regardless if you’re there for work or leisure, everyone is working hard to get to where they need to be safely and on time.
Now that school is back in session, bus ridership has increased and you’re more likely to encounter buses on your daily drive. We share the roadway with a number of different buses including city buses, accordion buses, cable buses, HandyDART buses, special activity buses, coach and tour buses, and school buses! Where you live greatly influences which type of bus you will likely come into the most contact with, but regardless of where you live and what type of bus you see most often, the rules and regulations surrounding them remain constant.
There have been countless movies featuring cars like the 1948 Ford De Luxe Convertible in Grease, the 1963 Volkswagen Beetle in The Love Bug, the 1967 Shelby GT 500 in Gone in 60 Seconds, the 1970 Dodge Charger in The Fast and The Furious, the 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 in Back to the Future, and the list goes on and on! Those are for another day though; what about trucks - and not just trucks - but big rigs? There are a lot of movies featuring big rigs possessed by demons or driven by a serial killer but what about the fun loving, family-oriented, risk-taking, and hardworking truckers!
The trucking industry is full of job opportunities and great companies to work for. Our truck students have access to exclusive job postings and career presentations that provide a chance to rub elbows with some of these companies, but we wanted to go more in depth. This week marks the beginning of a new feature, where we’ll be putting a spotlight on some of the companies that we work with and that we recommend for employment!
