Supporting a new driver is an important role and can be asked of parents, guardians, family friends, or extended family members. For many of us, this means stepping into a different position than the one we’re used to; mentoring and guiding a new driver to become a safe, confident, and independent road warrior. While it may seem like you’re just there to fulfil the “qualified supervisor” restriction that ICBC requires of new drivers, this role is far more than that.
If you’ve enjoyed the odd drink with friends after work or on the weekend, attended a concert downtown, or needed a lift home while your own vehicle was in the shop - chances are you’ve called a cab, a friend, or even a designated driver service for a ride. Ride sharing is finally being given the green light in BC, so Lyft and Uber are now an option to get home safely.
Riding a motorcycle is synonymous with the freedom of the open road, the wind in your hair, and becoming one with your machine. It’s all about finding the perfect balance between man and machine and tuning into the energy of the roadway itself; vibing and jiving with the dips, dives, bends, bumps, and flow of the blacktop. The long straights are fun for cruising, but it’s the twists and turns that get the blood of true riding aficionados flowing.
When we think about car books we generally migrate to “Do It Yourself” guides or magazines that showcase the newest and hottest in the industry or a souped-up muscle car. What about the whimsy of a magical car, the horror of a car possessed by supernatural forces, an outlaw race across the United States, or the down and dirty of working on the racing circuit?
