Driving Date Nights

Date night doesn’t always have to mean dinner and a movie. In fact, the most special dates are the ones that are unique and well-thought out. Maybe it’s your first date and you’re looking to impress or maybe you’ve already been to every popular date spot in town. No matter the case, the only thing you need for a romantic date night is you, your date and your vehicle!

Not only are driving dates adventurous, they’re also inexpensive. Pick up your date, set the tone with the right music, and hit the road. Here’s how you can have a fun time out with your date!

Pick a Movie

Take your date back in time with an old-fashioned drive-in movie! The Twilight Drive-In Theatre is perfectly located in the heart of the Fraser Valley, at Fraser Hwy and 264th in Langley. You can plan a date here any day of the week, from February to November. You can buy tickets online, so as not to disappoint your date if they’re sold out at the box office, and aim to arrive early for a great spot. Movies always start at dusk, so showtimes will vary depending on the time of year. Depending on the type of vehicle you have, you could back in and pop the rear door or climb into a truck bed, and build a cozy nest of blankets and pillows. The Drive-In has a concession close at hand so you can grab food and drinks if you start feeling snacky.

Pack a Picnic

Going out for a meal doesn’t always have to mean going to a restaurant! Take advantage of the beautiful weather that the Fraser Valley and Lower Mainland has throughout the year, and the natural beauty of the province by going for a picnic. Make your first stop at the grocery store together, and build a feast with your favourite (and portable!) snacks and sides. If you’re looking for a surprise, prepare a meal ahead of time before you hit the road! Not sure where to go? Redwood Park in Surrey will take you on an enchanted walk through enormous redwood trees or if you’d rather take in some water views, the Iona Beach Regional Park in Richmond is the perfect place.

Look at the Stars

Surrounded by nothing but the open sky, you and your date will feel like you’re the only two people in the world! If you have a truck, grab some blankets and pillows to lay in the bed of the truck for the comfiest stargazing experience. Alternatively, you can lay a blanket on the ground. The McDonald Park Dark Sky Preserve is one of the top places for stargazing as it is tucked into a valley and Sumas Mountain blocks out light from nearby Abbotsford, making it a zero light pollution park. If you want to get even further away from everything, the Fraser Valley has no shortage of back roads to discover the stars from. As long as you’re far away from bright lights you’ll be able to see the stars shining bright. To really impress your date, read up on constellations and skygazing facts beforehand so you can dazzle them!

Head to a Lookout

Looking for a private moment with your date? Drive to a quiet and private lookout spot surrounded by nature. There is no shortage of perfectly romantic lookouts across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley! If you like having a destination in mind, check out the White Rock Pier in White Rock or the Whytecliff Lookout Point in West Vancouver On the other hand, a touch of spontaneity might be the perfect thing, in which case enjoy the drive and find your own lookout point! When you find one, it’ll feel like the spot exists just for you two.

Watch the Sunrise

There’s nothing like watching the sunrise with your favourite person! Set your alarms for an early start, fill a thermos with some coffee, tea, or hot cocoa, and drive to one of the aforementioned lookout points to watch the horizon awaken. The colours will be almost as beautiful as your date. If waking up early isn’t your idea of the perfect date, instead hit the road late in the afternoon to make it in time to catch the sunset. After the sun goes down, you can stay and look at the stars.

Whether you’re planning an anniversary surprise, the weekly or monthly date night, or just enjoying some time adventuring, there are plenty of sweet activities to do with your partner!

"A special “Thank You” to you. From what I was told, you never let my daughter put her guard down. Good for you.

I appreciate all the hard work and dedication you’ve given to my daughter. I will recommend Valley Driving School to as many people as I can.

Again, “Thank You” to everyone. Who knows…maybe my daughter will be back for other types of drivers training ie: motorcycle, standard, or even semi-trucks. Could happen. She ‘loves’ to drive.

Best regards"
