Class 1 Instructor Course

As a prerequisite to this course you should have several years of full time commercial driving experience. An overview of correct operating procedures in conduction with valuable instructional strategies (how to teach), will provide you the tools to begin your career as a professional driving instructor. Demonstrations, behind the wheel driving, practise teaching and feedback/assesment between instructor and student make for a course that is practical, stimulating and exciting.

A few of the topics include:

• conducting a needs assesment
• pre-trip inspections
• teaching basic and complex maneuvers (starting, steering, stopping, shifting, hills, turns, backing, etc.)
• speed and space management
• common mistakes students make and how to correct them
• teaching in urban, highway & freeway situations
• managing difficult students (i.e. slow learners, language barrier, eye-hand coordination problems, etc.)
• how to sequence your instruction
• selecting an appropriate training area
• advanced skills development

Includes Class 5 training course 80 hours
